Masterfile and Gonkbonk helped bring Pilot Season to life by building a seamless digital and physical experience for comic collectors. Subscribers start their journey with a digital mystery box reveal on their phones, then receive carefully packaged single issues—bagged, boarded, and delivered in a blind bag for a second surprise. We designed this system to heighten anticipation and celebrate the physicality of comics while layering in digital rituals that enhance fandom. Every detail, from timed reveals to collector chats, was built to feel personal, thoughtful, and deeply immersive.
